Online diaries—capture real life the moment it happens
Memory is a poor witness. Sentink Online Diaries let participants record what they do, buy, feel and use—when it happens, on their own phone. Schedule daily or weekly entries, or let people log every occasion. They answer in words, photos, videos and voice notes; you follow up on any entry, watch completion live, and leave with a clean dataset and an AI summary, in the same workspace as your surveys.
Built for bilingual teams across the GCC and MENA—with native Arabic RTL, regional fielding, and Dubai-headquartered support.

- Qualitative diaries for stories, routines and emotions, and quantitative diaries for consumption, spend and usage logs

- Photo, video and voice-note answers, checked and stored securely with each entry
- Schedule by study day (Day 1, Day 2…), by fixed dates, or keep a task always open
- Repeat a task every day or every few days, with an answer window and an optional grace period for late entries
- Event logging: let participants submit an entry every time something happens, with daily and total limits

- Target tasks to everyone, to groups (for example age bands or user types) or to named people
- Invite by email or share personal links; built-in consent before anyone takes part
- Answers save as drafts while people type, so nothing is lost on a weak connection
- Email reminders when a task opens and before it closes, with quiet hours and one-click unsubscribe
- Send a follow-up question on any entry; the participant answers in the same thread
- Live progress: who is on track, who is late and which days are missing, per person and per task
- Review, approve and flag entries, with a gallery of every photo and video
- Search every answer across the study in seconds
- AI summaries and themes with links back to the original entries, AI-suggested follow-up questions you approve before sending, and translation of entries

- Run diaries on their own or inside a research community, sharing the same members

Plan the study once. Sentink runs it every day.
Build each task as a normal Sentink questionnaire, then decide when it appears: on Day 1 of each person’s study, on fixed dates, every day for two weeks, or whenever something happens. Sentink opens and closes every task on time in each participant’s own time zone and sends the reminders, so your team isn’t chasing people by hand.
- Study-day, fixed-date and always-open schedules
- Daily or every-few-days repeats with answer windows and late grace
- Event logging with daily and total limits

Let participants show you their world
Participants open a simple mobile page—no app store, no password. They answer with text, ratings, photos, videos and voice notes, and drafts save as they type. The portal speaks English, Arabic (right-to-left) and Bahasa Indonesia, so people take part in the language they think in.
- Photos, videos and voice notes on any entry
- Personal sign-in links, consent and privacy built in
- A “What’s new” feed and email reminders keep people engaged

- Follow-up questions and comments on any entry
- One inbox for new entries, replies and anything waiting for your team

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a qualitative and a quantitative diary?
A qualitative diary collects stories, feelings and media—for example “show us your breakfast and tell us why you chose it.” A quantitative diary collects structured logs you can count and compare—for example what was drunk, when, where and how much. In Sentink you can mix both in the same study.
Do participants need to download an app?
No. Participants open a personal link on their phone or computer and use a mobile-friendly portal in English, Arabic or Bahasa Indonesia. They can come back at any time from the same link or the reminder emails.
Can I ask follow-up questions on an entry?
Yes. Send a follow-up question on any entry and the participant answers in the same thread. The AI can also suggest neutral follow-up questions, but nothing is sent until a researcher approves it.
Which plans include online diaries?
Online diaries are included with the Pro and Corporate plans and with Enterprise and private instances, together with home use tests and research communities.
